The XV Mediterranean Multidisciplinary Pain Forum, IX European Multidisciplinary Pain Meeting and VII International Congress of Pain EFHRE Sine Dolore, which had to be held at the Hotel Occidental Menorca in Punta Prima (Sant Lluís) at the end of April and beginning of May, has been postponed by the coronavirus crisis.
The Forum was expected to attend hundreds of congressmen from Spain and several countries in Europe. The president of the organization organizing the event, Sine Dolore European Pain Foundation, Dr. Jordi Moya, said that “the Ministry of Health has agreed with the autonomous communities to suspend all congresses, courses, workshops and conferences that involve health professionals to avoid infections by coronavirus and ensure its availability ”. In fact, the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, said last Tuesday in a press conference that "there is already a significant number of health professionals apart from being in contact with infected people and we can not afford it because it is an important decline" .
It is important to highlight that of the 151 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Spain, 13 are health personnel, to which we must add the professionals in isolation in the Basque Country, Madrid and Andalusia. The Minister of Health has pointed out that this measure is in line with what the Collegiate Medical Organization and the General Nursing Council of Spain have recommended and that, in addition, this decision responds to health professionals being essential and leading the coronavirus effort .
The suspension of sanitary congresses wants to avoid risks of infection by coronavirus and guarantee its availability, so that the Sine Dolore Foundation has decided to postpone it until mid-October, from 15 to 18 of that month, at the expense of how COVID-19 evolves
